A few words about Kalogeriko..

Kalogeriko is one of the most emblematic buildings of Thassos. This is a two-store building of the 19th century and property of the monastery of Vatopedi. The rectangular shape building is constructed out of stone and wood according to Thracomacedonic architecture. The roof is wooden, covered with slates and has tall stone chimneys. The openings are wooden as is the staircase leading to the first floor where a traditional Thassian house is represented and various embroidery, nightwear, furniture, kitchenware, loom, laundry room with all the paraphernalia, shrine etc. are exhibited. It belongs to the municipality of Thassos and is used as a venue for cultural events, exhibitions, lectures etc. but also for the housing of the Municipal Port Fund.
