Villages - Skala Maries

A few words about Skala Maries..

Skala Maries to the southwest of the island is a picturesque fish village built amphitheatrically over a creek with a small harbor, where local fishermen tie their boats.

Entering the village, you will face the church of “Agios Ioannis”, where if you decide to stop you can admire wonderful frescoes depicting various Saints.

East of the village is the archeological site “Fari”, where an ancient pottery workshop was discovered.

Its small port is offered for relaxing walks, while in the nearby tavernas you can enjoy fresh fish.

Various cultural events are organized here during summer.  In coordination with neighboring villages, a carnival parade is organized here on Lent Monday.

Worth visiting! You will be impressed!
