A few words about Skala Potamia..
Skala Potamias is the port of Potamia village. The greenery and the amazing blue of the sea make it one of the most beautiful destinations of the island and a tourist hot spot during summer.
The scenery however changes in winter when the tourists leave, leaving behind only a few permanent residents to guard it.
Its small port offers shelter to the local fishing boats with the building of Tarsanas looking magnificent next to it. The building was used in the past as a fishing shelter for the monks of Mount Athos (Agion Oros) but nowadays it accommodates the island’s folklore museum and it hosts various cultural events.
The square of the village is the starting point of a small tourist train, which operates every evening till late at night and invites visitors to enjoy a refreshing ride around the area.
Skala Potamias boasts an excellent tourist infrastructure with luxurious hotels, bars, shops and many seafood tavernas right next to the sea.
All the above surrounded by the sandy beach in the color of gold and the vast woodland that spreads at the back side of the bay.
